Director of Development and Institutional Advancement

Ozanam Inn seeks an experienced fundraising professional to lead its development and philanthropy efforts. This position is geared to a senior professional who understands how to create, lead and implement effective donor development and public relations programs to advance the organization and meet budget goals.

The Director of Development and Institutional Advancement will supervise and work hand-in-hand with a development associate, and he/she will have the support of the CEO, board of directors and development committee for all activities.

Candidate should possess a deep understanding of the fundraising landscape in the New Orleans area and nationally.

Reports to the CEO.

Qualifications & Desired Qualities:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in fundraising for mid to large non-profit organization
  • Proven record of meeting fundraising goals including securing multiple 6+ figure gifts

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Serve as a thought partner to CEO for institutional advancement
  • Drive the annual fundraising strategy and implementation to achieve revenue goals
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donor prospects
  • Create and manage comprehensive, strategic plans to optimize each of the organization’s revenue streams, including government and foundation grants, corporatesponsorships and gifts, individual fundraising, and planned giving
  • Work closely with the CEO, board of directors, and development committee to expand and deepen existing donor relationships and cultivate new relationships
  • Become an instrumental part of the executive team focused on organizational objectives
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with all relevant stakeholder groups
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization in the community, and with media when appropriate, reflecting the mission of the organization
  • Supervise staff and any necessary outsourcing for development and public relations functions to consistently achieve fundraising results
  • Establish goals for development staff and evaluate performance and productivity regularly
  • Work closely with the finance department to regularly oversee, track, and project the development budget, including revenue projection and analysis
  • Monitor and report to CEO on annual fundraising goals and annual expense budgets
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in continuing education, professional organizations, reading current literature and maintaining professional contacts in the community
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned

Salary Range:

$70,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience and track record of success + healthcare (including dental and vision), retirement benefits, paid time off, & life-insurance
